About Turing

In the academic year of 2017-2018, the ‘Turing Dispuut’ was founded as an association of the JSVU. The association concentrates itself on ambitious third-year-bachelor students and master students with a special interest in IP & IT law, privacy, big data and technological innovations.

The ‘Turing Dispuut’ distinguishes itself by organizing interactive events tailored for master students concerning current issues of intellectual property law. It is needless to say that bachelor students who are almost graduating are also welcome to our events. These events are focused on practical as well as theoretical matters. One may think of law firm visits, workshops, symposiums and guest lectures at the University of Utrecht. So far we have visited law firms such as Bird & Bird, Bureau Brandeis, Van Benthem & Keulen and Novagraaf. In addition to these law firms, we hope to visit international institutes soon. Furthermore, our symposiums concerned Artificial Intelligence and article 13 of the Directive on copyright in the Digital Single Market. Through these events, master- and third-year-bachelor students may touch upon theory and practicalities within law firms, corporations and other institutions, giving them an idea of what the future has got in store for them.

Next to these activities, the association also offers social events, such as a pubquiz, to their fellow students in order to get to know each other. We hope to see you at one of our events soon.
